A Mounjaro maintenance plan should address treatment goals, tolerability, nutrition and follow-up after initial weight loss. Reaching a target weight does not, by itself, decide a new dose or interval. This guide focuses on the questions to review with a provider when planning longer-term care.

Mounjaro maintenance: goals and review points

Maintenance means working to sustain progress over time. Ask how the provider reviews weight trends, appetite, side effects and overall health, and when the next appointment should happen. Any proposed medicine change needs an individual prescribing decision; a taper described online is not a standard plan for everyone.

Questions about provider support and treatment pauses

Before changing provider or pausing treatment, clarify the review process, contact arrangements, fees and how continuity of care would be handled. A subscription or ordering policy is a commercial arrangement, not evidence that a different dosing interval is suitable.

  • Who reviews a maintenance plan and how often?
  • How should new symptoms or loss of appetite be reported?
  • What happens if access or affordability changes?
  • Who gives written advice if treatment is interrupted?

Using community experience constructively

Experiences can help people identify practical questions about appointments, communication and support. They cannot confirm another person’s prescription or establish the safety of tapering, stockpiling or switching medicines. Bring concerns to the treating team while there is time to make a plan.

For budget and supply questions, see the separate guide to maintenance costs linked below. This article provides general education, not a tapering or restart schedule.
